Les cœurs fleuris

Le cœur fleuri est un motif très fréquent dans l’art populaire européen. Nous en trouvons par exemple sur un patron suisse pour une paire de gants, ou sur les meubles peints en Suède. Yoko Saito s’est inspirée de ces derniers pour son livre Quilts scandinaves (et voici mon interprétation de son modèle). Quand Isabelle m’a demandée de « broder quelque chose » sur ses chaussons, j’ai pensé que ce motif irait très bien pour une broderie en laine ! J’y ai ajouté une touche Léa Stansal et ensuite photographié le tout dans le jardin, façon  Facile Cécile….

Hearts with flowers

A heart with a flower growing out of it is a common motif in European folk art. We can see it on a Swiss pattern for gloves or on painted Swedish furniture, which was an inspiration for Yoko Saito in her book Scandinavian quilts (here in my rendering). When Isabelle asked me to ‘embroider something’ on her slippers, I thought that this would be a great motif for wool embroidery! I added a sprinkle of  Léa Stansal  and took a picture of the finished work in the garden, à la  Facile Cécile.
