GALANTERIE veut dire  «  mercerie » en tchèque….

Voilà un  mot bien utile si on se trouve en République Tchèque et cherche ces jolis galons fleuris qui ornent les costumes traditionnels de Moravie. Il y en a une grande variété, des fins et des larges, en rouge, en jaune, en bleu, en blanc, en noir… 

Au fait, est-ce qu’ils sont tellement différents des rubans de Plougastel (en bas)? N’aurait-il pas un style européen de rubans fleuris ? Peut-être les fabriques de Saint-Etienne y étaient-ils pour quelque chose ?

Actually, are they that different from traditional French ribbons called “rubans de Plougastel” (bottom picture) worn in the part of Brittany around that town? Maybe there is a European style for floral ribbons? Perhaps it was the mills in the French ribbon capital of Saint-Etienne that spread the word?
