Les roses  de Dalécarlie (1) 

Les élèves et les lecteurs des livres de Léa Stansal se souviendront peut-être d’un certain galon rouge dans le livre « Boîtes à histoires ». 

Il figure autour d’une boîte (page 124), et au bord d’une jupe jaune avec les instructions d’exécution qui se trouvent sous le titre « Je m’attache ou je meurs » (page 150 et suivantes).

C’est un galon en laine et rebrodé de laine que Léa a ramené des Etats-Unis.

Moi, j’ai trouvé ses racines….

Voici ce que j’ai vu lors d’une exposition locale dans la province suédoise de Dalécarlie, et où j’ai été frappé par la ressemblance au galon de Léa !

Cette broderie est toute particulière au village de Dala-Floda.

The Roses of Dalecarlia (1)

In her book « Boîtes à histoires « (‘Boxes full of stories’) , the French textile artist Léa Stansal gives the pattern for a certain red trimming, which she has stitched around a box (page 124), and to a yellow doll’s skirt (page 150 ff). Léa found this trimming in the United States, at the textile fair in Sturbridge, MA.

The original trimming is made of  wool and it is embroidered with woollen yarn. 

Well, I have found the origins of this trimming…!

The pictures above are what I saw at a local exhibition in the Swedish province of Dalecarlia, and the resemblance to Léa’s trimming struck me.

This kind of embroidery is  a specificity of the village of Dala-Floda.
